Since most gyms are still closed, a lot of us have had to work out at home. I for one am not complaining. I prefer being alone when I exercise. Plus, I don’t need to commute to the gym (which is better for the environment, saves time, and money!). The icing on top of the cake, however? It’s that you are in full control of your fitness routine, so you can choose from the best Youtube workout videos for every mood you have!
If you’re feeling a bit annoyed at something and need to let loose some steam, or if you’re not up for something intense, there’s a workout that will fit your needs. Also, these experts have agreed that exercise can definitely help improve your emotional state. So no matter what mood you’re in, some movement may be beneficial. Before you start, don’t forget to warm up and cool down afterwards!

When you’re feeling as strong as an ox
There are days when you’re up for some blood-pumping exercise and are ready to take on a challenge. Do these intense Youtube workout videos to take advantage of that mood:
- Fitness Blender’s Fat Burning HIIT Cardio Workout – This one will have you sweating and heaving afterwards. If you finish it without pausing or switching to low-impact modifications, you’re a champion!
- SELF’s 30-Minute HIIT Cardio Workout – This video just made me feel so sorry for the guy who had to do all the moves without getting a chance to pause. It’s definitely one to do when you’re extra energetic.
- Fitness Blender’s Total Body Toning Strength & HIIT Cardio Workout – Weights with a bit of HIIT every now and then. This’ll feel so good after!
Best Youtube workout videos when you’re feeling under the weather
If you feel sick but feel strong enough to do a light routine, give these calming yoga routines a try. By doing this, you’re still moving your body but not overworking it.
- Yoga With Adriene’s Yoga For When You Are SICK – I love this routine and always find myself turning to it when I feel a cold coming on. Add a few drops of an aromatherapy roll on and boom you instantly feel better.
- JessicaSmithTV’s Under The Weather Workout – This is a quick and easy routine that can stretch those tired muscles. So if you’re feeling sick but are craving some movement, try this 12 minute workout.
- Yoga With Adriene’s Cozy Yoga – Another one by Adriene, and twice as long as the first video. Do this if you feel like doing something a little longer. And feel free to wear a hoodie, grab a blanket and a pillow to make it even cozier.
When you’re happy and you know it
You can clap your hands, stomp your feet, shout hurray, or do all three. Or you can try one of these Youtube workout videos for your blissful mood.
- MadFit’s TikTok Dance Party – Even though I don’t use TikTok, these songs are really catchy. The great thing about these dance videos is that they don’t feel like a workout, but you end up burning a lot of calories in the end. You’ll definitely be smiling all throughout.
- Pamela Reif’s Happy Dance Workout – If you love dancing, you’ll definitely enjoy this 15 minute exercise. Don’t let the first few minutes fool you though, you’ll be doing multiple high knees soon enough!
- MadFit’s Dance Party Workout – Take a trip back to the 2000s and burn calories while you’re at it with this workout video. Maddie’s energy will definitely sustain you til the end.
Best Youtube workout videos when you don’t feel like it
No matter how fit and strong you are, there will always be days when you won’t feel like working out. However, unless you’re sick or injured, don’t make it an excuse! Opt to do easy low impact cardio or pilates instead!
- Fitness Blender’s Pilates Butt and Thigh Workout – You won’t be jumping around but will mostly be on the mat working your lower body. Easy peasy so don’t be lazy!
- Body Project’s Fat Burning, High Intensity, Low Impact Cardio Workout – this is a quick 30 minute routine that burns a lot without stressing your joints. So if you’re due for some HIIT but don’t feel like it, opt for this instead. Daniel’s pep talk will definitely keep you going.
- MadFit’s No Jumping Full Body Cardio – This requires no jumping, so no need to fear jump squats and burpees. Plus, it’s only 10 minutes! Tell yourself that. Afterwards you might be motivated enough to add in another 10 minutes of exercise!

When you’re sad
On days when you feel sad about something—whether it’s work-related or something more personal—you might find it helpful to still move and spend some me-time. If you’re more of an extrovert, look for a buddy to do these workouts with (even if it’s via a video call)!
- Yoga With Adriene’s Yoga For Depression – This is a quick yoga flow that allows you to process your emotions and reflect on them. Aside from relaxing your mind and body, Adriene’s sincere words soothe the heart as well.
- SarahBethYoga’s Calming Yoga For Sadness – Grab some pillows and a yoga block (if you have one) and let Sarah Beth’s calming voice guide you through this beautiful flow.
- Yoga With Adriene’s Yoga For Loneliness – A wonderful, relaxing practice where you’ll be lying on the mat the whole time, this will hopefully allow you to focus on your body and process your sadness in a different way. Read the comments afterwards and you won’t feel alone at all! We are all connected.
When you’re mad and want to release the stress
There might be something you’re annoyed about—an acquaintance, an instance at work, or some douche almost hitting you while driving. Blow off some steam with these Youtube workout videos for your angry mood!
- Fitness Blender’s Cardio Kickboxing and Abs Workout – This will definitely let you release that anger through punches and jabs. I like to think it’s also practice for self-defense. Haha. You’ll definitely feel sore tomorrow though, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
- Yoga With Adriene’s Yoga For When You’re Angry – If you’re not up for something intense, melt the stress away with some yoga instead. This one is specifically for when you’re mad, so prepare to let go of that negativity.
- Fitness Blender’s Cardio Kickboxing and Abs for Stress Relief – I love how Daniel always gives 100% into the punches and kicks. It inspires me to do the same. Also, picturing that annoying thing in front of you as you punch and kick can be especially motivating.
Best Youtube workout videos when you just want to relax
If you just did some HIIT the other day, or are extra tired from a long day at work, try these Youtube workout videos for that specific mood. Put some essential oils in a humidifier or light a few scented candles to make it extra relaxing!
- Yoga With Adriene’s Gentle, Relaxing, Cozy Flow – Just like the cozy flow for when you’re sick, this yoga routine can be done with a blanket and a pillow. And if that’s not relaxing I don’t know what is!
- Boho Beautiful’s Stress Relief Yoga – This is a very calm and relaxing flow designed to clear your mind. The waves in the background and Juliana’s soft voice add an extra soothing effect as well.
- Yoga With Adriene’s Yoga For Writers – I know, I know, another one from the same channel! I think you’ll know the channels I love the most from this list. But Adriene really does have a lot of awesome videos, so you can’t blame me! Haha. Although this says it’s for writers, I find this perfect for anyone to relax as well.

I’ll admit, without YouTube workouts I would be lost. I much prefer to workout at home, where I have peace and can sweat as much as I like without getting self conscious. I have been looking to expand my routines though so thanks for sharing, I’ll be bookmarking this to come back to ?
Kathleen

Love Yoga with Adriene! These are such great recommendations– online fitness has been an absolute lifesaver during the pandemic. As someone who was an avid daily gym person before the pandemic, I don’t know WHAT I would have done without YouTube and my gym’s Vimeo channel– would’ve gone stir-crazy for sure!
Kathleen
Yaaay! I love her too! Totally agree…I wasn’t really a gym person before the pandemic, but I can only imagine how difficult it must be for those who were used to go to the gym…thanks to technology we still get to keep our fitness (and sanity) levels up! Haha!
Mariah
Thanks for the ideas!
