Distance – A Poem For Lovers

Distance poem for lovers by Kathleen Wonders

Distance can mean
The space between
Two points on a plane
Or little lines on a scale

It can mean
Hours on airplane rides
The number of cold streetlights
Or the stretch of road 500 miles wide

It could be
The difference in time
Saying good morning
While the other says goodnight

Distance may spell the difference
Between bittersweet endings
Or challenging beginnings
On days you say goodbye

But distance may also mean nothing
To a pair of lover’s hearts
Who may be far apart
But choose the path
That may split into two
But despite the divide
Will still meet together and intertwine
And thus erase any feeling of distance.
